In his testimony in a US court, Maina proved that he contracted the AIDS causing virus through the cuts and scratches he suffered during the rescue operation at the US Embassy, Daily Nation reports.
Maina is among other survivors of the bomb blast who will be compensated after suffering injuries during the attack.
However, the compensation will only be given to victims who worked for the US Embassy at the time of the blast and not all victims.
The blast in Nairobi killed 213 people and injured 4,000 others.
