UN Secretary calls for peaceful Kenya polls

28 February 2013, 16:21

Nairobi - Daily Nation reports United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has urged Kenyans to ensure that there is peace during and after next week's elections.

According to him, Kenya had come a long way in preparing for the polls, the first elections after the bungled presidential vote in 2007.

He telephoned President Kibaki on Wednesday and expressed “his sincere hope and belief that Kenyans working together and putting the collective interest of their country above any other consideration can ensure that the upcoming elections will be peaceful and credible".
