UK diplomat in Kenya over 'leaked' ICC dossier
26 March 2012, 13:20
Nairobi - According to reports by the Daily Nation, United Kingdom’s Minister in charge of Africa and Overseas Territories Henry Bellingham is in Kenya amid a diplomatic tiff following claims that his government is seeking to have President Kibaki indicted over the 2007/8 post-election violence when he leaves office.
The visit follows claims, made in Kenya's Parliament by MPs Charles Kilonzo and Aden Duale, about an alleged leaked dossier that outlines UK's intentions to have the ICC indict the President and detain Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto, who face charges of crime against humanity.
The UK, through its Mission in Nairobi, has since dismissed the accusations as "a smear campaign".
