Two kidnapped Kenyan aid workers rescued from Al-shabaab

Nairobi - Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Friday announced the rescue of two aid workers who had been kidnapped by the al-shabaab militants.
The al-shabaab kidnapped Daniel Njuguna Wanyoike who worked for MSF (Doctors without Borders) and James Kiarie Gichoi who worked for Care International along the country’s border with Somalia in 2011, Daily Nation reports.
According to the KDF, the two had been taken to a hospital in Somalia for a check-up and will travel to Nairobi on Saturday.
The al-shabaab militants have carried out several terror attacks in Kenya since the government sent its troops in Somalia to fight the militants in an operation dubbed ‘Operation Linda Nchi’.
They have vowed to carry on with the attacks until the troops are withdrawn from Somalia, a move that President Uhuru Kenyatta said the government will not take.
