Nairobi - Kenya’s Tourism Minister Najib Balala said the earnings for 2011 were only KES 2 billion shy of the targeted Sh100 billion, thanks to an aggressive marketing campaign.
Balala said the sector recorded KES 98 billion, an overall growth of 32.9 percent owing to increased charter flights into the country.
In his briefing to Capital News, the minister said his Ministry had requested for extra funds from the Treasury to capitalise on the upcoming April to June peak season.
