Three people perish in Webuye road accident

22 October 2013, 12:07

Matulo - A road accident along Webuye- Bungoma Road has left three people dead and 25 others injured.

It is said that the Eldoret Express bus rolled several times after the driver, who is among those who perished, lost control and veered off the road, Daily Nation reports.

Bungoma East OCPD Willy Simba said the accident happened at 4am and those injured were rushed to Webuye District Hospital for treatment.

According to statistics, road accidents have caused 2,425 deaths this year alone, the figure is higher than the deaths recorded over the same period last year.

Traffic commandant Samuel Kimaru had earlier told the MPs that the traffic department was not well equipped and does not have enough funds to curb the rising cases of road accidents in the country.
