Turkana - Three out of six guns that were stolen from police officers by suspected cattle rustlers in Turkana have been recovered in Pokot.
Last week, four administration police officers and two police reservists were killed as they pursued cattle that had been stolen by heavily armed raiders. The raiders took away their guns, West FM reports.
West Pokot County Commissioner Peter Okwanyo said police have stepped up an operation along the Pokot-Turkana border to arrest the suspects and recover the remaining three guns that are still missing.
Okwanyo also urged members of the two communities to voluntarily return illegal firearms to government before being forced to do so.
