Government to train teachers in ICT

Nairobi - There is a need for teachers to be trained and equipped with capacity building in information and technology skills ahead of the roll out laptop program by the government, ministry of educational official said.
In his brief to The Standard, Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi said that having computers in the classroom without trained teachers will not benefit the pupils, as he assured them that they are not to be replaced by technology.
Kaimenyi went on to add that his ministry is acutely aware that the success of the implementation of ICT integration programme in primary schools will depend mainly on teacher training in ICT integration skills and them embracing change.
