Teachers defiant amid President’s resolve not to pay more

13 September 2015, 08:01

Nairobi - Teachers have pledged to continue with their strike following the President’s resolve not to pay them.

President Uhuru Kenyatta said that the country has no money to pay teachers, comments that have been received with contempt by teachers and other leaders in the country.

KNUT said Kenyatta was arrogant in the manner he handled the strike issue, Daily Nation reports, and that they would also respond with the same arrogance by failing to call off the teachers’ strike that enters its third week next week.

COTU is also planning a nationwide strike in solidarity with the teachers over the implementation of 50-60 percent pay rise.
