Taita Taveta first to benefit from Beyond Zero campaign

04 July 2014, 17:17

Nairobi - Taita Taveta is the first county to benefit from the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta’s Beyond Zero campaign.

The county received the first fully kitted "Beyond Zero" mobile clinic during the launch of the campaign by the First Lady on Friday.

She said each county will receive a mobile clinic that will contribute to improving access to health care of mothers and children.

“We will prioritize counties, based on HIV, maternal and child health indicators, and eventually, all counties will be supported,” she said in a prepared statement.

Mrs Kenyatta kicked off the campaign by organizing a race dubbed the ‘First Lady’s Half Marathon’ in Nairobi.

She said it will be an annual event to enhance the “Beyond Zero’ campaign. The First Lady also took her campaign to the UK earlier in the year, where she participated in the world famous London marathon.
