TSC nominees' debate splits house

Nairobi - MPs are mulling over whether to adopt a report of the Education Committee that rejected President Uhuru Kenyatta’s nominees to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
The Standard reports that some MPs wanted the nominees adopted, whilst others pushed for the nominees to be rejected just as the committee had recommended.
The debate was initiated by Sabina Chege, the chairperson of the Education Committee; seconded by Jared Odhiambo (Awendo), who called on the House to reject the nominees, and re-advertise the post of TSC commissioners and have new names submitted to the House. The MPs are yet to make a decision and will table the matter again on Thursday.
