Suspended JSC officers back in office

Nairobi - The High Court has overturned the suspension of six Judiciary Service Commission officers and barred the swearing in of a tribunal formed to vet them.
The ruling was made Tuesday, stopping the gazette notice which would have seen a team led by former anti- corruption guru Aaron Ringeera lead the tribunal.
Reading the ruling, High Court Judge George Odunga directed that the six return to duty pending the hearing of a case filed by the JSC seeking permission to stop the tribunal.
JSC had stated that President Kenyatta's decision was unconstitutional.
Ahmednassir Abdullahi, Rev Dr Samuel Kobia, Justice Mohammed Warsame,
Prof Christine Mango, Chief Magistrate Emily Ominde and Ms Florence
Mwangangi were suspended Friday.
Judge Odunga also directed Chief Justice Willy Mutunga to form a three man team to hear the case filed by the JSC.
The decision by President Kenyatta had drawn mixed reactions with the opposition and civil society arguing against the move while the Jubilee coalition argued that it was within the law.
