Nairobi - University student leaders have called for a nationwide strike on Tuesday to protest against attempts by the government to increase fees.
Speaking at a press conference in Naiorbi, the leaders said the fees should instead be reduced by 50 percent and threatened to paralyze learning in all public universities if the government fails to heed to their demand, The Standard reports.
They said attempts to reach Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi to discuss the issue had hit a dead prompting them to call for the strike.
According them, plans were underway to increase the fee for regular students who are currently paying KES 28,000.
