State allocates Sh1.3b for issuance of IDs

08 February 2012, 17:42

Nairobi - Capital News reports that the government on Wednesday announced that it had allocated KES 400 million in the 2011/2012 supplementary budget for issuance of national Identity Cards (IDs).

Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka said that another KES 948 million will be set aside in the financial year 2012/2013 for the continuation of the exercise, as he sought to reassure all Kenyans of the government's committment.

Musyoka further called on Kenyans who have not picked their IDs, to do so and at the same time urged those looking for new IDs to make use of the mobile registration going on around the country.
