Nairobi - At least KES 50 billion will be spent by the State to implement the Jubilee Government’s pledge to offer laptops to all Standard One pupil’s by first term next year, says electronic suppliers.
According to The Standard, the money will be spent on buying the needed basic hardware for all the estimated 1.5 million children expected to be enrolled in class one next year.
Estimates by Samsung Electronics show that each solar-powered laptop may cost some KES 35,000 but considering the economies of scale, the Government may negotiate.
