Pretoria - South Africa has condemned the recent attacks on Mpeketoni town, which left dozens of civilians dead and several others injured.
Spokesman for the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, Clayson Monyela, said South Africa condemned the killings and supported efforts by the Kenyan Government to fight out terrorism in the country.
"The South African Government wishes to convey its heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Kenya and especially to the families of the victims in the ongoing terrorist attacks in Kenya," Monyela said.
"The South African Government reiterates its condemnation of all forms and manner of terrorism. Terrorism, in any form and from whichever quarter, cannot be condoned," Monyela added.
He said the acts of terror against innocent civilians did not serve any purpose but would only contribute to further instability and ethnic animosity.
"South Africa will continue to support the efforts of the Kenyan Government to fight terrorism and promote inter-ethnic harmony and national reconciliation," Monyela said.
