Senate wants CBK Governor's appointment revoked

Nairobi - Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro has faulted the appointment of the new Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor Patrick Njoroge Ngugi terming it as illegal since the Senate was not involved in the vetting process.
Ethuro said the appointment was done in total disregard of the constitution and the Central Bank of Kenya Act.
" This was clearly a disregard of the law on the part of the executive and we will seek redress over it," he said Wednesday.
Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has also called for a review of the appointment, insisting that they have nothing against the new CBK Governor as a person since he is qualified for the job.
" He is qualified but the law must be respected. That is what we want to see happen," he added.
Ngugi was vetted and approved for the position by a parliamentary committee and has already begun working.
He is a former advisor to the CEO of the International Monetary Fund IMF based in Washington DC United States.
