Saitoti, Ojode plane crash report out

28 February 2013, 18:08

Nairobi -  The probe into the copter crash that killed the late Internal Security Minister George Saitoti, his deputy Orwa Ojode and four others blamed “poor visibility” as the main cause of the loss of control of the aircraft last June.

The Standard reports that the team led by Deputy Chief Justice Kalpana Rawal, revealed on Thursday that the probable cause of the accident was the poor weather in which the pilot was unable to maneuver the plane.

Commissioner Captain Peter Maranga said that ‘pilot error’ may have played a “major role” in the accident adding that the two police pilots were not sufficiently trained to flying in poor weather.
