SRC has helped Kenya save KES 1.4bn

05 September 2013, 17:31

Nairobi - Kenya has saved KES 1.4 billion following the review of salaries and allowances paid to state officers, by The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) in the past year.

The wage bill of state officers has come down from KES 12.8 billion annually to KES 11.4 billion after the implementation of the recommendations by SRC, Daily Nation reports.

However, SRC vice chairperson, Daniel Ogutu on Thursday, told the Daily Nation that they are yet to embark on the second phase of reviewing salaries and allowances paid to other public officers, as they had only dealt with only three per cent of the total annual wage bill for public officers, which stood at KES 458 billion in the last financial year.
