The Hague - The International Criminal Court (ICC) on Tuesday said that Ruto’s reasons for skipping trial this week are exceptional and valid according to the court’s excusal terms.
The Deputy President traveled back to the country on Monday for a one week break in order to attend to several meetings and hold brief for the President who is away till Wednesday, Daily Nation reports.
Currently, the President is in Botswana for a meeting, which is reason enough for his Deputy to be excused from the ICC trial since the two principals cannot be away at the same time. On Thursday and Friday, Ruto will be chairing a meeting to discuss refugees and drought issues.
