Ruto: Uhuru was misadvised in making some appointments
09 January 2014, 08:23
Nairobi - Deputy President William Ruto admitted that President Uhuru Kenyatta was misled by his legal advisers in making appointments of some parastatal heads.
Ruto, who was speaking in an interview on Citizen TV’s morning show, said they will be seeking answers from those who advised the President to make some appointments that contravened the law, Daily Nation reports.
The appointment of Mohammed Abduba Dida, who vied for presidency in the March 4 polls, as the chairman of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Board has been criticized by the opposition, saying that he needed Parliament’s approval.
President Kenyatta appointed Dida in a special gazette notice, dated December 31, 2013, as the chairman of the CDF board, a position he would have held for eight months.
However, it is not clear whether he will take up the job since a gazette notice signed by Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary, Anne Waiguru revoked the appointment.
