Nairobi - Looting allegations against Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) took a new twist after Deputy President William Ruto admitted that some soldiers may have looted during the Westgate terror attack on September 21.
Speaking in an interview with CNN’s Zain Vergee, Ruto termed the incident as unfortunate and said President Uhuru Kenyatta had launched an inquiry into the matter to ascertain whether the allegations are true or false.
He said they will deal with any person who participated in the looting once the investigations are done.
Contrary to the DP’s admission, Chief of Defence Forces Julius Karangi still maintains that no looting was done by the soldiers during the attack that left at least 67 dead and scores of others injured.
Karangi told Parliament that the army officers only took drinks from the supermarket "to quench their thirst."
