Roads leading to Parliament closed over security concerns

14 May 2015, 11:51

Nairobi - Police in Nairobi have closed Parliament Road and Harambee Avenue over security concerns.

Nairobi Traffic Police Boss Edward Mwamburi said movement of vehicles in Parliament buildings and City Hall Road will also be restricted, Daily Nation reports.

This comes two a few weeks after the arrest of Senate staff, Ali Abdulmajid Ahmed following claims that he was working with Al Shabaab to plant bombs in Parliament.

Following Abdulmajid's arrest, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi had also directed that no visitors should be allowed to access Parliament without duly authorized visitor’s cards.
