Raila launches paybill to help pay teachers

23 September 2015, 16:22 Dennis Masinde

Nairobi - CORD leader Raila Odinga has launched a paybill number to help raise funds for striking teachers.

The paybill 672672 was launched by Raila and other CORD leaders Wednesday at Uhuru Park Nairobi during a rally to show solidarity with teachers who are currently on strike to protest the lack of payment by government of a 50/60% payrise.

Raila asked Kenyans to show solidarity with the teachers and called on them to raise some money for teachers who are being frustrated by government lack of pay efforts.

" I have already put in 100,000 and my brother Kalonzo has also raised KES 100,000. I ask Kenyans to give anything, even 50 shillings to help out," he stated.

Teachers are currently on a 4 week strike to protest the lack of pay by government.
