Nairobi - Nurses at Nairobi’s Pumwani Maternity Hospital downed tools on Wednesday over allegations of baby theft at the hospital.
Close to 180 have vowed not to return to work, and are seeking transfer from the hospital, saying its reputation has been dented by the baby theft allegations.
The hospital is under investigation following the mysterious disappearance of newborn twins delivered on 6th January, Daily Nation reported.
According to the mother of the twins, Jacinta Wanjiku Gathua, she gave birth to two babies but she was told by doctors that the babies died 12 hours before delivery.

DNA tests showed that the two bodies presented as twins by the hospital were not related, neither did they relate with the mother, nor her husband.
