IEBC interviewees disqualified

13 October 2011, 11:26

Nairobi - Reports by the Daily Nation indicate that two of the candidates being interviewed for the post for chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC), fell short of requirements and the panel had to disqualify them.

According to the panel Wakahiu George Njenga a lawyer, was turned away after he gave false information about his membership of a professional body. Meanwhile Kinuthia Mwangi Wamwangi was disqualified for not being tax compliant.

The panel had set strict conditions for interested candidates as the post calls for an individual who can demonstrate leadership skills and of high integrity.

SEEK CLEARANCE

The applicants were put through a rigorous screening and had to seek clearance from the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission, National Security Intelligence Service, Criminal Investigations Department, Kenya Revenue Authority, Director of Public Prosecutions, Helb and bodies like the Law Society of Kenya.
