Nairobi - The National Police Service (NPS) has been sued for failing to provide a toll-free 999 emergency phone number by an activist.
According to The Standard, activist Okiya Omtatah wants the NPS ordered to provide a toll free 999 emergency line by the court.
Omtatah has sued the NPS, Attorney General, Independent Oversight Authority, Communication Commission of Kenya, Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution, Yu, Orange, Airtel and Safaricom. The activist argued that lack of an emergency number amounts to police abdicating their duties to prevent and fight crime.
