Police 'masqueraders' arrested in Nakuru

Nairobi - Police in Nakuru have arrested three men suspected to be
behind the spate of robberies in the town.
The suspects are said to be masquerading as police
officers and operate in counterfeit police gear and handcuffs.
The trio was arrested after a botched robbery at the
Diamond Trust Bank.
Nakuru Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD), Benard
Kioko, said police were acting on a tip off by citizens who suspected the
individuals standing by a bank’s entrance of a malicious intent to commit a

the arrest of the three.
The fourth suspect is at large after evading arrest.
Kioko called on members of the public that had fallen
victim to the robberies to report to the Central Police Station in Nakuru to
identify the suspects.
He said police had ascertained that the suspects were
using a hired car during the robberies.
Cases of bank customers being robbed by individuals
disguised as police officers have been on the rise in recent months despite the
government pledging measures to curb the upsurge.
