Police gun down five suspected carjackers in Nairobi

06 November 2013, 10:05

Nairobi - Police gunned down five suspected carjackers in botched carjacking incidents in Nairobi's Dagoreti, Ngando and Ngong areas.

The five had hijacked two Citi hopa buses when the passengers alerted the police who responded quickly and killed the carjackers on Tuesday night, The Standard reports.

“I commend Police County Commander Nairobi and his officers for the swift action last night when alerted by the carjacked passengers. Kudos,” Inspector General of Police, David Kimaiyo tweeted.

Police are struggling to curb cases of carjacking and robberies which have been on the rise in the city.

“Why is that only fleet owned particular bus companies experience back-to-back carjacking incidents around Nairobi?” @AllanOdhiambo asked on twitter.
