Police didn’t have a hand in Njenga's shooting

Nairobi - Interior Cabinet Secretary, Joseph ole Lenku Sunday said police were not involved in the shooting of former Mungiki leader, Maina Njenga’s entourage along the Nyahururu-Gilgil road.
Njenga sustained serious gun wounds on the shoulder after the Saturday attack by a group of unknown assailants. Five people who accompanied him died on the spot while two others escaped with serious injuries, The Standard reports.
Speaking at a hospital where he is undergoing treatment, Njenga claimed that those behind the attack were police officers and promised to say more when he will be out of the hospital.
However Lenku refuted the claims saying the attack was linked to Mungiki factions who are fighting over control of property.
He said investigations had been launched into the incident.
