Mandera - Kenya police has been forced to deploy officers from the General Services Unit (GSU) in Marsabit, Mandera and Moyale Counties after six people were killed in a span of five days. The GSU officers will be backed up by administration police and regular officers.
According to police spokesperson Gatiria Mboroki, they are investigating the crimes to identify and arrest the killers, Daily Nation reports. The motives for the attacks were not initially clear but it seems that the attacks in Marsabit involved the Borana and Gabbra communities coming into conflict with each other.
Mboroki said they have enhanced police visibility in the region in order to stop further attacks and track down the suspects.
