Pattni saga ' a can of worms'

Nairobi - The government is in a catch 22 situation, as it cannot explain how businessman Kamlesh Pattni ended up owning 70 per cent of the of the commercial space at JKIA since 1989, that housed the Duty Free shops that he was evicted from, a government official said.
In a statement to the Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing on Monday, Capital News reports that the Cabinet Secretary of Transport and Infrastructure Michael Kamau on Monday said that the complexities in the saga including the process in which the lease agreement between the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) and the billionaire was signed risked opening up a can of worms if pursued.
Kamau added that the government however maintained that Pattni’s leases were acquired fraudulently and that they were yet to decide whether or not to seek redress.
