Overnight power outage rocks Kenya

Nairobi - A power blackout rocked most of the country Thursday morning.

Many parts if Nairobi and its outskirts experienced the power outage which occurred at 0200 hrs local time Thursday and extended to the later part of the morning.

Areas affected included Westlands, Parklands, Karen, Ongata Rongai and Ngong Areas, while Mombasa and the Mount Kenya region were also affected.

The Kenya Power company admitted to the failure, saying they were working overtime to deal with the matter.

"Our teams are working to restore power to areas affected by a blackout from last night. We regret inconveniences caused and request for your patience and understanding as they do so, said a statement on their Facebook page.

By time of going to press, power supply had resumed in most parts of the country though some areas were still in the dark.
