Otieno says he retired from military

Nairobi - Former Kenya Air Force Commander, Joff Otieno Thursday said he retired from the military and was not forced out as alleged by some reports.
The reports alleged that Otieno was retired by President Uhuru Kenyatta from the military on 30 July, 2014, The Standard reports.

Speaking when he appeared before the House Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations, Otieno said he retired from the military after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 58 years for officers of his rank and that he was not forced out.
He was later nominated Kenya’s ambassador to Egypt and the House Committee was vetting him for the post.
