No bail for Thuo murder suspects

Nairobi - Six suspects facing accusations of murdering former Juja MP, George Thuo, will remain in custody after they were denied bail.
Delivering the ruling, Judge Roselyn Korir, denied the suspects bail on the grounds that if released, they might interfere with witnesses in the case.
The prosecution had at an earlier session mentioned that they sought to call more than 50 witnesses to testify in the case once trial begins.
Judge Korir pointed out that Cliff Ombeta, the accused’s lawyer, had not provided her with sufficient grounds to release them on bond.
Among the accused persons is the proprietor of Porkies Gardens Restaurant in Thika town.
This is where the former legislator died.
Thuo collapsed in November last year before he died while being transported to Aga Khan Hospital.
According to investigations by the police, one of the beers Thuo consumed at the Thika town club that night was laced with pesticide.
Thuo had reportedly been drinking with friends when he complained of sweltering heat.
He later fell unconscious and medical attention proved fruitless.
