Nairobi leads in HIV infections

Nairobi - Statistics released by the Ministry of Health reveal that Nairobi leads in HIV infections, with a record of 177 552 people living with the virus.
Homa Bay comes second in the list, Daily Nation reports, with 159 970 people in the county having tested positive for HIV.
The HIV burden is reportedly higher in major towns such as Nakuru, Kisumu, Mombasa, Kakamega, Kiambu, Kisii and Siaya, but lower in arid areas such as Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Marsabit, Isiolo, West Pokot and Tana River.
The report further indicates that 1.6 million Kenyans are infected with HIV, with 101 560 new infections being reported every year.
