NHIF free to implement revised rates
25 January 2013, 09:13
Nairobi - Daily Nation reports that a court on Thursday ruled that the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) has a free hand to implement the disputed revised rates.
The national health insurer had initially planned to roll-out the new rates on October 1, 2012, but its hands were tied following a court order.
The revised rates had been challenged by the Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions, Hospitals and Allied Workers (Kudheiha), who had obtained court orders after filing a petition on grounds that NHIF had not taken into account the economic state of the contributors to increase their contributions.
