400 million which was collected by the authority from alcohol outlets
“There are 30,000 alcohol outlets within Nairobi alone
which pay a minimum of KES 12500 in licenses per month which translates to KES
357 million,” he alleged .
He claims that only KES 12 million was on the record
books of the authority.
Mututho said the NACADA board were frustrating him and tried
to conceal the mismanagement of funds in the anti-drugs authority.
He further alleged that the number of licenses that the
authority said were issued did not correspond with the amount of money in the
Issuance of licenses, he said, was one of the authority’s
services that had been greatly marred by irregularities with cases of fake
licenses being issued to alcohol outlets across the country.
An audit has been ordered at the authority’s branches
countrywide but Mututho said the process would be compromised as it was not
carried out by an independent body in order to establish the exact amount of
money that had allegedly embezzled.
Mututho, who is famous for bringing to Parliament what
has been called the “Mututho Laws” has been at the helm of NACADA for two
