Muthama plans to sue Mutua for defamation

12 November 2013, 15:16

Machakos - Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama may sue Governor Alfred Mutua for defamation.

Muthama claims that Mutua made false and damaging remarks about him in an interview conducted by a local TV station.

He denied trying to reach Mutua to collude with him to embezzle money meant for the county, saying that his lawyers are working on the case which will be filed soon to prove that Mutua is a liar, The Standard reports.

The two have disagreed on several occasions, the latest incident was when Muthama tried to block the unveiling of the Machakos City as it had been planned by Mutua.

Muthama had urged President Uhuru Kenyatta not to unveil the city until the land dispute between the county and the Ministry of Agriculture was resolved.

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Felix Koskei had accused Mutua of planning to build the city on grabbed land.

However, President Kenyatta went ahead to unveil the city after a court threw out Muthama’s petition.
