Museveni urges Luhyas to shun traditional circumcision

Mbale - Uganda President, Yoweri Museveni has urged the Luhya community to shun traditional circumcision ceremony as it promotes prostitution.
Citing the Bagisu and Bukusu Luhya sub-tribes, Museveni urged the community members to shun such ‘retrogressive’ rituals and instead embrace modernity.
Speaking during the launch of Bagisu circumcision ceremony in Eastern Uganda, The Star reports, Museveni noted that he valued cultural diversity and was ready to support morally accepted practices such as the use of vernacular.
