01 December 2014, 10:47
Nairobi - Several motorists were forced to spend the night in cold following a heavy traffic jam along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway Sunday.
The jam, which continued to stretch on Monday morning, was caused by two lorries that broke down on the road.
Machakos County police Commander Gideon Amalla said the situation was worsened by heavy rainfall and motorists who were impatient and started to overlap, totally blocking the road, The Standard reported.

He urged other motorists to avoid the route for several hours as police officers try to clear up the mess.
