Nairobi - Kenya’s leading development partner in the roads sector, the African Development Bank(ADB) , has said that it plans to increase its funding for infrastructure projects in Kenya.
Speaking to the Daily Nation, ADB’s Jeremiah Mutonga said that in 2011 their bank was involved in the funding the implementation of at least 25 projects to the tune of $1.5 billion (Sh154 billion), a significant increase of funding geared towards development projects.
Over the years, the figure has risen to 25 over the years and next year things are looking up he said after a tour of the Nairobi-Thika superhighway last week in the company of Kenya National Highway Authority (Kenha) officials.
Mutonga added that ADB shall scale up their funding in the next three years, especially in the energy and roads sectors, to the tune of $500 million (Sh52 billion), as they plan to grow with Kenya.
