Nairobi - New details have emerged on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s aborted trip to the United States last month.
The President’s jet is said to have turned back to Nairobi in Somalia, after Ethiopian air controllers advised the pilot to reroute to avoid the Yemen airspace.
However, this did not sit well with Kenya which sent a protest note to Ethiopia and even summoned the country’s ambassador to Kenya over the matter, The Standard reported.
According to officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the cancellation of the trip was a big embarrassment to the President and Kenya.

Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho said the issue had been resolved and they would ensure it does not happen again.
President Kenyatta was scheduled to attend the annual Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles, but his trip was cut short after his plane was said to have experienced route challenges.
He made a live video address to the conference after the aborted trip.
