Mathare attack leaves one dead and 20 houses burnt

09 January 2013, 12:03

Nairobi - Tension remains high in Mathare Slums after a suspected arson attack left one man dead and 20 houses torched.

According to The Standard, this is the second time a similar incident is happening in Mathare 3 C after a similar one that happened last month where 50 houses were torched and one man killed.

Police report says that the 11 pm incident happened after a swoop. It is believed that a gang regrouped and attacked torching the houses as the officers were escorting 12 suspects who had been arrested to the cells.
