Update - Mandera blast

27 October 2011, 14:54

Mandera – According to Capital News, authorities say that at least four people are dead after a rocket-propelled grenade was hurled at the vehicle ferrying Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) materials in Mandera.

Reports indicate that the vehicle was carrying mainly district examination officials and police officers, when it was attacked earlier on Thursday morning.

Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere is due to give a comprehensive update on the incident, as their have been conflicting reports as he shall also be giving a brief on the security situation in Kenya in the wake of Al Shabaab threats.

Earlier in the week, Nairobi was hit by two grenade attacks on Monday, killing one person and wounding 30 people in what police believe was planned and executed by Al Shabaab insurgents.
