Nairobi - The High Court has allowed Ali Gitonga to file a legal suit against the government for wrongful detention on suspicion of being involved in the terror attack at the Westgate Mall.
According to Gitonga, he was branded a terrorist after being shot by security forces when attackers stormed the mall last month killing more than 60 people and injuring many others.
He was detained at the Forces Memorial Hospital and later released without being charged in court over the terrorism allegations, The Standard reports.
High Court Judge Isaac Lenaola directed the Aga Khan Hospital, where Gitonga was first treated before being transferred to the Forces Memorial Hospital, to provide him with a medical report to enable him file the suit.
Police said they had arrested more than 10 suspects for questioning over the attack.
