Nairobi - The man who was mentioned severally by the first witness to testify in the trial for Deputy President William Ruto and Joshua Sang at the ICC was once arrested and acquitted of murder charges.
Stephen Kipleting Chamalan had been accused with other men of killing seven people at the Kiambaa Kenya Assembles of God (KAG) church in Eldoret on January 1, 2008 but were later set free due to lack of sufficient evidence, Daily Nation reports.
After hearing the case, in which more than 31 victims testified, Justice David Maraga faulted the police for carrying out shoddy investigations and freed the four accused men.
Chamalan is currently the County Representative for Ngeria Ward in Uasin Gishu.
