Man charged with 60 counts of murder

09 July 2014, 23:31

Lamu - A man along with his co accused, have been charged with 60 counts of murder for the recent spate of attacks that took place in the county. They have been charged with the murder of 12 people, while other offences took place between June 15 and 17 this year in Mpeketoni and Kaisari, Nation reported.

The two men appeared before Judge Martin Muya as they denied all charges set against them.

The court has however decided for the men to be psychiatrically evaluated and a report will be presented before court on July 16.

Muya has also directed the men to be sent to Port police station as the case will continue on Thursday before Judge Jutice Muriithi.

They will remain in custody for seven days as the court prepares for their bail hearing on Monday.
