Nairobi - A Malindi businessman has been charged with the Mpeketoni killings at a Mombasa Court, the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions DPP has announced.
Mr Mahadi Swaleh was Wednesday charged with 60 murder counts over Mpeketoni Incident.
He is accused of aiding, housing and funding criminals to carry out the killings and cause panic and displacement in the area.
The case will be heard in November.
The government has insisted that the murders in the area have been caused by political matters as compared to the Al Shabaab terror group.
Swaleh joins Lamu Governor Issa Timamy as the two high profile arrests in the case thus far.
