Machakos to install lights on major roads

Machakos - Machakos governor, Alfred Mutua, said that major roads in the county will have street lights to help combating crime in the region.
The installation will start at the Makutano ma Mwala- Kithimani Road, which is under construction.
The road is the first one to be tarmacked as part of the ambitious infrastructural projects being undertaken in the county.
“The road will also have street lights which will help combat highway crime while also aiding in visibility while driving at night, culverts for free flowing drainage and proper signage to guide and warn motorists using the road,” said Mutua.
Mutua said the contractors were working to ensure that the road is finished within the three month time frame that begun in March this year.
“The road has been contracted to 11 different contractors with each doing at least 3 kilometres thus bringing down the cost of construction while also enabling them to be fast and efficient,” he said.
While defending the county’s infrastructural projects, the Governor said that Machakos County is breaking away from the old and slow way of doing things and embarking on the slogan.
“We aim to deliver on our election promises as we are all aware that time for baseless politics is long gone-all Wananchi want is timely delivery of services, good governance and tangible development,” said Mutua.
